Simple Scrapper Blog Hop & Giveaway | June 2013

June 03, 2013

Welcome back to this month's Simple Scrapper Blog Hop!

The Premium Membership Templates and Story Starters for June are here!  And here's a look at how I was inspired to use them in my own memory keeping.

I created my page Tuesday Mornings using one of this month's new templates.  The minute I saw it I knew it would be perfect for recording my husband and I 's Tuesday morning ritual, in which we meet out front on our patio and share a hot drink and enjoy a few kid-free moments together.  And with this template's cute little doilies peeking out I thought it would be  just right for helping me to capture my story's charming and cozy feel.

I paired the template with this sweet little kit from Creashens, stitching from Anna Aspnes and wood veneer shapes from Sahlin Studio.

This page about my alma mater, Ogden High was inspired by the June Story Starters.  I have to admit that I never would have thought of looking back to my own school days had I not been prompted to--but I'm certainly glad I did.  When I left high school I couldn't wait to be rid of the place, but now I look back at all of the pride and sense of history that I have from attending what is now a national treasure and I have a new appreciation for its marble halls.

I also used another one of the new templates for this page, which allowed me to piece together several  bold patterns in my background, which I added stitching to. I used this small shot of my school 's front entrance surrounded by an ornate frame to draw the viewer in and then accented the page with a scatter of buttons--using products from the designers at Pixels & Company.

  3. Great LO!

Amy, didn't they make a movie with your school a few years back? It sure has great architecture. Layton High was just 4 yrs old when I graduated, so it was more modern.

  4. Thanks Diane! They've actually made a couple movies there, back in the 80s, one called 3 o'clock High and then my Jr. Year (1999), they made another movie called Drive Me Crazy. It really is a beautiful place.
