The Inspiration Station | Challenge No. 10
August 08, 2013
Welcome back for another Inspiration Station Challenge! It's been a while hasn't it!? But the Inspiration Station Challenge is finally back! And I've picked out this super fun graphic poster for this month's challenge.
As a side note, I'd just like to mention that graphic posters and ads can be a great source of inspiration for 8.5 x 11 scrapbookers. They can also be a great place to start if you're thinking of giving the smaller canvas a try.
With that said, let's take a few minutes and study our inspiration piece...can you start to see all of the possibilities unfold? This inspiration piece lends itself to some fun techniques you could try out--like a cool photo mosaic or even a great way for paper scrappers to use up all of those patterned strips they've got lying around. It could also make for a perfectly clean, yet interesting design blueprint. The choice is yours!
Here is a look at how I used the inspiration piece in my own page:
As you can see, I used the focal strips as a foundation for layering my photo over and switched things up with the rendering and placement of the text. I also opted to use a dark background rather than light one--but other than that I stuck pretty close to the poster's overall design.
I ended up loving how the strips looked when paired with this photo of my sister's family in which the subjects are also vertical and of varying heights. And those strips also turned out to be an excellent way to incorporate tons of color into my page.
